Jeffrey Antonio 'Jeff" Domínguez (born July 31, 1986 in Carolina, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican professional baseball player. Domínguez, an infielder, is a switch-hitter who throws right-handed. The Mariners drafted Domínguez in the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft out of Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School. He has played with multiple minor league teams including the rookie-level AZL Mariners, the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Class-A Advanced Inland Empire 66ers, the Class-A Advanced High Desert Mavericks, the Double-A West Tenn Diamond Jaxx and the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers.

Amateur career

Domínguez attended Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School. From there, he was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the ninth round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft.[1]

Professional career

Domínguez officially signed with the Seattle Mariners on June 17, 2004, after that year's draft.[2] He began his professional baseball career with the AZL Mariners, who were members of the rookie-level Arizona League. In 45 games played with the AZL Mariners that season, Domínguez batted .222 with 18 runs, 35 hits, two doubles, one triple, 15 runs batted in (RBIs) and 10 stolen bases. During the 2005 season, Domínguez played with three different teams in the Mariners minor league organization. With the rookie-level AZL Mariners, who he played with last season, Domínguez batted .240 with 17 runs, 30 hits, four doubles, one triple, 11 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 33 games played. He was then promoted to the Class-A Advanced Inland Empire 66ers of the California League where he played six games, getting six hits in 18 at-bats. Domínguez also played two games with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers that season, going hitless in one at-bat.

During the 2006 season, Domínguez again played at three different levels of the Mariners organization. In his third year with the rookie-level AZL Mariners, he played in three games batting .273 with three hits, two of them being doubles. That season, he played at the Class-A level with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, who were members of the Midwest League. During his time with Wisconsin, Domínguez batted .263 with 30 runs, 65 hits, seven doubles, 16 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 68 games played. His final team in 2006 were the Class-A Advanced Inland Empire 66ers, who he had played with during the previous season. With the 66ers, Domínguez batted .245 with 17 runs, 40 hits, five triples, one triple and 17 RBIs in 46 games played.

In 2007, Domínguez spent the entire season with the Class-A Advanced High Desert Mavericks of the California League. That season, he batted .261 with 66 runs, 129 hits, 28 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 55 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 130 games played. During the 2008 season, Domínguez played for the Double-A West Tenn Diamond Jaxx where he batted .205 with 35 runs, 72 hits, 15 doubles, two home runs, 32 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 109 games played. Domínguez started the 2009 season with the Double-A Diamond Jaxx.[3] With West Tenn, Domínguez batted .214 with nine runs, 15 hits, four RBIs and one stolen base in 27 games played. On May 15, 2009, Domínguez was sent down to the Class-Advanced High Desert Mavericks.[4]
